12/06/10--11:16: End of the year countdown... 2010 style! (chan 2168506)

Forgive me wrestling fans, for I have sinned. Its been almost a year since I've actually sat down and written about rasslin. Of course thats a lie. I'm sure it hasn't been a whole year, but it IS almost the end of the year, which means as tradition has shown you, means its the final countdown!! (thats a whole lot of comma usage lol) anywho... This that and all kinds of other stuff, I haven't taken notes so I actually DID have to research things before I wrote this. Bare with me because I mostly only sound smart to myself and people dumber than I am. ;)


Whether it was good, whether it was bad... if it made this list its because I remembered it! haha... or cheated by looking up some stuff that I forgot.. but whatever.

20. WWE starts the year off with a bang and releases some people! Starting with Tommy Dreamer only four days after the New Year. Eric Escobar also got the boot, but does anybody remember this guy really? Katie Lea's Brother Paul is released because contrary to popular belief, incest storylines are NOT the best. (YOU HEAR THAT HARDYCEST LOVERS, ITS DUSTGUSTING!) Everybody's favorite Hero, Hurricane and lovable diva Maria were also given the boot. Charlie Haas (sadly) was also released in account, stealing everyone's gimmick was TNA's idea first ;) Mickie James and Katie Lea Burchill as well as Superstars Shelton Benjamin, Kung Fu Naki, Slam Master J and Jimmy Wang Yang all gone. MIKE KNOX released and why he wasn't on last years list is BEYOND me, but I was a happy camper when it happend so...Tony Atlas also joined the list of released talent by the end of April. By May the releases are back in full effect and they release Carlito. Like that sayin goes "thats not cool!" A Diva who didn't get to shine (surprise surprise) gets released. Savannah|Angela Fong goes buh-bye. Another Diva not to be forgotten of course, Serena Deeb is released by the end of August. Tara fights for her money, and is released by TNA... (and than rehired) Jamie Keyes is released for being a "rotten apple" Matt Hardy is released (and also crazy) Shad Gaspard, Luke Gallows, Vance Archer and Caylen Croft and WWE Divas Tiffany and Jillian Hall all released the same cold day in November. MVP gets his release right before the holiday season! Lacey Von Erich exposes to the world that the apple DOES in fact fall really far away from the tree. Perhaps for the best, she leaves TNA. Austin Aries Vs. ROH.. Aries loses. =(

19. Superstars|Divas are NOT so injury free. Melina (torn ACL) Mickie James has a staph infection. Ezekiel Jackson, Beth Phoenix (torn ACL) Christian gets surgery for a torn pectoral muscle. and Evan is injured (again) More people I'm sure were injured, I just don't care to mention them lol..

18. People die. Which is always sad... lets take a few minutes to mourn the losses of some incredible souls in wrestling history. Dr Death Steve Williams (so he died December 30th, still close enough to 2010) Georgiann Makropoulos, Jack Brisco, Baron Mikel Scicluna, WHO BETTA THAN KANYON!.. nobody. Chris Kanyon passes away April 3..Gene Kiniski, Lance Cade passes away in August. Luna Vachon is found dead soon after.

17. WWE's Loss is TNA's Gain. Several Former WWE stars (and STORYLINES) debut on TNA Wrestling. (I don't care what you say... Fortune is SO Evolution)

16. Bret Hart Returns!!! As much as I really don't like him, even I have to say it was a pretty big deal. That Shawn Michaels showdown.. gahhh! Still gives me goosebumps (had the storyline in my head actually played out, that statement would be 100% true)

15. The Volcano that changed the face of Raw for... a week. :| Hands down, one of my favorite episodes of Raw in the years history.

14. John Cena joins Nexus, gets fired and plays a really BAD out of work WWE Superstar. WWE FAIL. Lets face it? Love him or hate him Cena isn't going anywhere. However... had this storyline been more believable (you know, had Cena not shown up next week or tweeted about a non-existant mexican cousin) it would have been better. I don't see the harm in Cena being gone for more than a week. Maybe a month! MAKE IT BELIEVABLE FOR PETES SAKE! Wade Barrett deserved better.

13. Chris Jericho leaves WWE... (again) A return remains unknown, but he's gone and thats an absence that no man can fill.

12. Women's Wrestling gets the ole slap in the face & Natalya gets her time to shine!! WWE retires the Women's Championship and makes the butterfly belt its only prominant divas championship. The ONLY thing that makes it okay though? Giving the Championship to a female that has earned it, and has fought for it! Seeing Natalya become champion was one of my diva highlights of the year! I just wish she wasn't going to feud with LayCool (there are OTHER divas you know WWE)


11. Legacy Breaks up, Cody gets Dashing, Ted really is the Million Dollar Baby and Orton goes face! I love the bad guys, I love the bad guys, I love the bad guys. I loved these guys and pathetically still do. However... I really don't like Orton as a good guy. It takes a strong man to be bad and he's got all the fixings! Plus.. you know I hate that Centon bullshit. haha.


10. Superstars, Knockouts and Divas take to Twitter! (lets face it, life is alot better with this level of cyber stalking! ;)


09. Shawn Michaels retires. Sadly unlike in the past, HBK actually understands retirement means staying off of TV... Coincidently Triple H takes a sabbatical around the same time and we haven't heard from him since.


08. Raw's GM gets Digital. Literally... what the hell... and the laptops right hand man? Michael Cole. WTF!?! haha. Its one of those "love to hate" moments of the year.


07. Nexus invades Raw! I still have to hold my jaw up when watching the very first time Nexus invaded! It was crazy!! And I ate it up, wrestling fan style. If storylines were more like this (you know... not predictable) I think WWE would be more enjoyable to watch.

06. First Bryan Danielson DOESNT win NXT, and THAN he gets released... By the power vested in the internet... I now pronounce you a WWE Superstar. It was crazy to see how many people actually pushed for re-hire and for once the WWE gave the fans what we wanted! All I can ask for going into 2011 is that THIS guy stays where he is on the roster and doesn't get the 'Evan-push'

05. Its a Fellabration! Sheamus gets a lil bit of color by becoming 2010's KOTR!! Oh, he's also a bully. ;) My kind of guy!

04. Straight Edge means; He's better than you. (Jeff Hardy) CM PUNK joins the Raw announce team.

03. Stand Up for WWE... would have gone better if WWE actually listened to the fans who actually DO stand up for their company.

02. The MIZ becomes the WWE Championship by cashing in MITB. Haters gon hate!!!... but I popped huge!! I've been following Miz since his season of the Real World and could not be more happy and proud as a fan with anybody else. Plus, Miz's status card went WAY up when he named A Ry as his new apprentice.

01. Vince McMahon wakes up from a coma(quite the tease - because we haven't seen him since) Stephanie has another baby(Triple H can't make boys), Linda runs for Senate(and loses) and Shane McMahon leaves the company (for realz). HOLY MCMAHON UNDERLOAD!!! I NEED MY MCMAHONS BACK!!!
